China and Pakistan Sign Agreement to build the “Beihang BeiDou Silk Road Institute”

Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Pakistan National University of Science and Technology brought forth a new chapter of collaboration between China and Pakistan with the signing of the “BeiDou Silk Road Institute Cooperation Memorandum.”

This was done during the discussions of “Policy Communication and Development Strategic Docking” in the“Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation” held recently.

BeiDou Silk Road Institute is considered as an important catalyst in the promotion of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, initiated by Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, together with the United Nations Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (China)/International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems, China Navigation Satellite Office BeiDou International Exchange and Training Centre and other exemplary associations of the Bei Hang Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).

All of the above bring together top national colleges and universities to participate in the “One Belt One Road” strategy, to “groom talent, bring technological innovation and facilitate international relationships”.

BeiDou Silk Road Institute will utilize “innovative teaching models and special systems to develop talent, committed to the creation of a first-class BeiDou teaching and research platform.”

It will also set up different affiliated colleges overseas and other related endeavours to “partake in regional services, and a network of education and research services, to foster and breed more qualified talent in Satellite Navigation Systems for different countries of the world”, serving the “One Road One Belt” and “Steady Progress in Launching the BeiDou systems” strategies, claims the official press release.
