Singapore to host inaugural Space Generation [ASEAN] Workshop

On 31 January 2018, the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) will host the inaugural Space Generation [ASEAN] (SGA) workshop in Singapore.

The one-day event will take place at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and is co-organized by the Singapore Space and Technology Association (SSTA). It will be held in conjunction with SSTA’s 10th Global Space and Technology Convention (GSTC), which will take place on 1-2 February.

During the SGA workshop, which will host 40 young participants from various ASEAN member states, university students and young professionals will discuss issues relevant to the development of ASEAN’s space industry. In addition to an ASEAN panel and an international panel, there will be three working group discussions on regional cooperation, the future space economy of ASEAN, as well as space sustainability.

Speakers at the workshop will include prominent regional and international representatives including Prof. Thomas Djamaluddin, Head of Indonesia’s Space Agency LAPAN, Dr. Noordin Ahmad, Director-General of Malaysia’s space agency ANGKASA, Dr. Rogel Mari Sese, Programme Leader of the Philippines’ National Space Development Programme, and Prof. Dan Hastings, CEO & Director, Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART).
