Asia-Pacific Space Generation Workshop to be held on Nov 3-5, Singapore

This November 3rd to 5th, young space professionals and students from all over Asia-Pacific will convene in Singapore for the Asia-Pacific Space Generation Workshop following its success in India last year. The Space Generation Advisory Council in support of the United Nations Programme On Space Applications is excited to announce the 5th edition of the workshop held in conjunction and supported by the 25th Asia Pacific Region Space Agency Forum.

The workshop is a two-and-a-half day event for students and young professionals aged 18-35 years that aims to engage the next generation of space leaders to explore challenges relevant to the region and opportunities for collaboration in Asia-Pacific.

Asia-Pacific is the largest region for space growth and there is a real need to continue building a community of practice in the region to capitalize upon opportunities. Additionally, with cutting-edge technologies and other advancements, the scope for cooperation and synergy in the Asia-Pacific space sector is significant.

Up to 100 delegates are expected to gather for the event at Boeing Singapore Training & Professional Services, Changi, and will include speakers and representatives from the space industry. Building on the success of AP-SGWs from 2014-2017 in India, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan, the workshop will expand on its existing roadmap and develop recommendations to be presented to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUS) as well as other industry platforms.

The workshop includes a speed mentoring event, panel sessions, and four working groups: reflections on UNISPACE+50 for the Asia-Pacific, the rise of small satellites, how the internet of things (IoT) will shape the Asia-Pacific space economy, and examinations of gender diversity in the space industry.

nterested delegates are not limited to engineers and space professionals, and only need an interest and commitment to the Asia-Pacific space sector to apply. Registration is open and closes on 7th September. Scholarships for attendance are available.
