Two geospatial conferences will be taking place in Putrajaya, Malaysia, and Singapore, in August and September 2017 respectively.
The first, GeoSmart Asia 2017, will be held from 22-24 August 2017 in Putrajaya International Convention Centre, and will be co-located with the GeoIntelligence Asia Pacific Forum taking place on 23 August.
The second, the 9th Annual Geospatial Intelligence APAC conference, will be held from 26-27 September 2017 in Singapore, at a yet-undisclosed location.
GeoSmart Asia 2017
Geosmart 2017 will focus on the theme, “Commercialization and Commoditization of Geospatial Information”, and will be the 16th installment of this annual regional conference. The conference will see over 1200 delegates, 300 organizations and 100 speakers, with end-users being the majority of attendees.
Plenary sessions this year will target both the public and private sectors, with such topics as “Geospatial Infrastructure and Policy Frameworks”, “Spatial Analytics and Business Intelligence”, as well as a dedicated India Geospatial Business Summit.
Speakers will include representatives from Google, Malaysia’s National Space Agency, Vietnam’s Defence Mapping Agency, and Petronas.
Co-located with the event will be GeoIntelligence 2017, which targets the defence and internal security agencies.

Geospatial Intelligence APAC 2017
The 9th Annual Geospatial Intelligence APAC summit aims to bring together the “national security and smart planning communities to utilize advances in geospatial information”.
Targeted towards the defence and military industries, most of the speakers are representatives from the ministries of defence of ASEAN nations. Topics will include “Using GIS applications to fight against terrorism”, “Malaysia Maritime Police Force case study”, and various sessions on using big data in national security and disaster management.
